Internet Removals takes down over 35,000 URL's relating to Revenge Porn and Image-based Abuse

On 01/03, the Internet Removals office in Singapore was tipped off to a site hosted in New Zealand containing what we believe to be over 35,000 images and videos of young women throughout Asia.

After further discussions with the informant, the images were curated by a group on Social Media that incentivises men to share pictures and videos of their current and former partners, for the chance of winning prizes such as laptops, smart-phones and gift cards. An image below demonstrates the level of organisation involved in collecting and curating these images.

From what we understand, many of the women pictured have made, or intend to make attempts at suicide, as the shame of these images being accessible online is too much to bear. Furthermore, we understand that the organisation has been actively attempting to extort these women.

On 1 March 2020 Internet Removals lodged content removal applications. Within 12 hours, Internet Removals was successful in deactivating the entire website, which we believe to have contained approximately 35,000 images and videos of young women.

We have since recieved two of two other tip-offs, containing approximately another 1,000 similar images and videos. These videos have since been deactivated.
