Tinder Extortion

In 2018 it is estimated that the dating app Tinder has over 50 million users, with 20 BILLION matches per day.

In the shift towards online dating, it's not uncommon for people to find love (or enjoyment) from engaging in swiping left or right on apps like Tinder, Bumble or Grindr.

Swiping right can often lead to flirtatious chats and the exchange of intimate details, such as an occupation, location, phone number and, in some cases, explicit images and videos.

Unfortunately, there is a growing number of fake profiles created for the purpose of Tinder Extortion / Sextortotion. These accounts often entice users to send intimate photos, only to then request hundreds, and in some cases thousands, from their victims.

At Internet Removals, we have been at the forefront of crisis management and damage minimisation for victims of such extortion and blackmail.
